Our flagship, an hour and a half from Ulaanbaatar in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. Modern Mongolian gers and lodge rooms with private bathrooms and hot water, a restaurant that cooks from the valley, horses in the paddock, beehives on the hill, and not a single power line in sight.
Big Sky runs entirely on its own 90 kWp solar array and battery bank. There is no diesel generator and no grid connection, which is why the nights are quiet enough to hear the river. Days are for riding, walking to the granite tors above the lodge, archery, or nothing at all on the deck. Khangar Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a steppe bar for the evening.
The lodge is the natural first or last night of any journey, a base for Terelj on its own, and the host property of our signature events. It is also where we plant trees with our guests under Mongolia's Billion Trees pledge.

How booking works
Check your dates on this page. Rooms and rates come live from the property, you pay securely by card at booking, in full, and your confirmation arrives immediately. Cancellation is free up to 5 days before arrival. If you would rather talk it through first, send us your dates and we reply within one working day. Guests on a Rara Avis journey have their stays arranged as part of the itinerary.
