The road is ours,
and so is the responsibility.
Every vehicle you ride in is owned or long term leased by Rara Avis and dedicated to our guests. Every driver is our employee. This page is the standard we hold for industrial and corporate clients, and it is the same standard on a private journey.
Toyota Land Cruiser
The vehicle the steppe was built for. Dual spare wheels, extended fuel range, desert recovery kit, sand ladders and towing gear, satellite communications on every expedition.
Toyota Alphard
Executive vans for airport transfers, city days and delegations. Met inside the terminal with a name board, never at the kerb. Flight tracking with automatic adjustment, no waiting charge for airline delay.
Hybrid and electric
Hybrids are the default for Ulaanbaatar city work, with electric vehicles joining the pool. Route and load planning cuts empty running, reported monthly to corporate clients.
Tracked, monitored, insured.
GPS telematics reporting live position to our operations centre. In-vehicle monitoring of braking, acceleration, cornering, speeding and seatbelt use, with a monthly driver scorecard. Certified first aid kit, fire extinguisher, warning triangles and recovery equipment. Comprehensive insurance with passenger liability.
For movements onto mining sites and licence areas we deploy a higher specification: rollover protection where site rules require it, whip aerial and amber beacon, HF and VHF radio, Starlink Mini and Iridium handset, seatbelt interlock and reversing camera, emergency water, rations and thermal blankets rated for Gobi winter.
Written journey plans
Every movement outside Ulaanbaatar: route, timings, stops, communications schedule, fuel plan, weather assessment, hazard register and contingency actions.
Check-ins that escalate
Mandatory check-in at defined intervals. A missed check-in escalates within fifteen minutes. Twenty four hour journey monitoring.
No night driving. Ever.
An absolute prohibition outside city limits, with no waiver process. Convoys with lead and recovery vehicles for long movements or larger parties.
Medical evacuation retainer
Activation within four hours from anywhere in Mongolia, casualty reception at Intermed Hospital, fixed wing and rotary evacuation, international repatriation, and a 24 hour medical advice line for every traveller.
One number. Answered in English, any hour.
A duty officer answers within three rings, day and night, all year. Behind them an account manager within thirty minutes, an account director within two hours, and the chief executive within four. During any active incident we open a shared channel with your people so nothing restarts from the beginning at shift change.
