We built these stays because the country needed rooms that honour the place. Not generic hotel product. Not franchise standards. Beds our own guests walk into and feel Mongolia, not a lobby.

Big Sky Lodge is our flagship, off-grid in the Rara Avis Forest. Otugi Hotel in the capital. Orkhon Ger Camp on the river plain. V28 is our city boutique. Different settings, same standard of care.

We own. We operate. We answer.

Every Rara Avis property is held by Rara Avis and staffed by Rara Avis. Nothing is licensed, franchised, or subcontracted. If something breaks, our name is on the receipt. If something sings, our team built it.

The upside is control. The upside is consistency. The upside is that when you walk into Big Sky Lodge and then into V28 two days later, the same care shows up in both places even though the buildings could not be more different.

Local ingredients, local chefs, a menu that respects the region you are in. Dietary needs briefed with the kitchen in advance.

Every room, every ger. Heated, insulated, hot shower. No shared facilities on any Rara Avis property.

Starlink and backup power

Working internet at every property, including off-grid. Solar plus generator backup so the lights never fail you.

Guest relations on site

A real person, 24/7, at every property. Rara Avis staff, not contracted. English spoken at all four locations.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Practical things.

Can I book a single property or must I use all four?
You can book any property on its own. Many guests combine two or three for a route. Our reservations team will suggest transfers and pacing if you share your dates and interests.
Are rates per room or per person?
Published rates are per room, double occupancy, meals included unless noted. Single supplement varies by property. Children under 12 stay free at Big Sky Lodge and Orkhon Ger Camp.
Do you accept walk-in bookings?
Otugi and V28 in Ulaanbaatar accept walk-ins subject to availability. Big Sky Lodge and Orkhon Ger Camp are reservation only due to logistics and provisioning.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full refund up to 30 days before arrival. 50% refund 15 to 30 days out. Within 14 days, deposit is non-refundable but transferable to a future stay within 12 months.
Are the off-grid properties suitable for older guests?
Big Sky Lodge is comfortable for all ages. Orkhon Ger Camp requires a 30-minute dirt track drive and has no step-free access to some gers. Tell us about your party and we will advise.
Can you arrange transfers from Ulaanbaatar airport?
Yes. Airport greet and private transfer to any of our four properties is included for stays of three nights or more. Shorter stays can add the transfer for $75 one way.
