THE LAND

Mongolia is built for expedition.

1.56 million square kilometres. The Gobi south, the Altai west, the Khentii east, the taiga north. Six hours of daylight separate one wilderness from the next. Most roads are tracks. Most nights are under stars.

We have guided expeditions here since 2016. We know which permits your team needs before you arrive, which ranger knows the route, which Land Cruiser will hold the crossing, which ger family to stop at when the weather turns.

FOUR WILDERNESS REGIONS

Where we guide.

Each region is a country of its own. Each expedition is designed around season, permit, and how deep you want to go.

SOUTH

The Gobi

7 to 14 days. Spring and autumn.

Flaming Cliffs, Singing Dunes, Yol Valley. Camel herders, dinosaur beds, empty star skies. Our most accessible expedition country.

WEST

The Altai

10 to 16 days. July to October.

Kazakh eagle hunters, 4,000 metre peaks, glacier-fed lakes, Potanin glacier, borders of Russia, China, Kazakhstan.

EAST

The Khentii

7 to 12 days. June to September.

Birthplace of Chinggis Khan. Wolf country. River valleys, sacred mountains, horse-nomad routes across roadless terrain.

NORTH

The Taiga

9 to 14 days. June to August.

Tsaatan reindeer herders, Khuvsgul, Darkhad valley, pine forest and bog. The remotest Rara Avis expedition.

VOICES FROM THE TRAIL

People who came back with stories.

★★★★★

Three weeks. Four hundred kilometres on horseback. One broken saddle, no broken bones. I have never felt further from email. I have never felt more alive.

The eagle hunter let our son hold the eagle. Our son is eleven. That photograph will outlive us. Every logistic worked. Every meal was cared for.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Before you book.

What level of fitness do I need?
Our expeditions range from comfortable 4x4 overlanding to 12-day horseback journeys across 4,000 metre passes. Every itinerary includes a physical rating and we are honest about what your day will look like.
When is the best time to go?
Late May to early October is the main expedition window. The Gobi is best in spring and autumn. The Altai is best July to September. Winter expeditions are possible in the Khentii for experienced travellers.
Can you handle dietary requirements?
Yes. We have cooked vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, and gluten-free itineraries in the deepest parts of Mongolia. It requires advance planning. Tell us at the design stage.
How long is the lead time?
Twelve weeks is standard. Eight is possible. Anything under that is tight because of permit, visa, and vehicle scheduling. Private expeditions in the Altai require earlier notice.
Do you run private expeditions?
Most of what we do is private. Family groups, private clients, company retreats, photography teams. A typical private group is 2 to 8 guests with a dedicated guide and vehicle.
What is not included?
International flights and visas are not included. Everything in-country is. Our quote is the final quote. No surprise surcharges for fuel, permits, or ranger fees.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. We require comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage. We recommend IMG, World Nomads, or Chubb for Mongolia expeditions.
Can you work with our travel agent?
Yes. We work directly with private travel agents and luxury DMCs worldwide. Commissions respected. Direct quote and planning support to your team.
