The Trans-Mongolian is our most ambitious expedition. 14 days, maximum 8 travellers, 2,800 kilometres by combination of 4WD, horse, and camel. It traverses Mongolia from the eastern Dornod steppe to the western Altai range. We run it once a year, June.
Day 1-3: East, Dornod steppe. Grassland horizons, Mongol gazelle herds, oboo shrines at the rim of every ridge.
Day 4-6: Central, Orkhon Valley. Horse days. Visit the Erdene Zuu monastery ruins. River swims.
Day 7-9: South, Gobi. Camels. Bayanzag cliffs. Khongoryn Els singing dunes. Starriest nights.
Day 10-12: West, Altai. High-altitude 4WD. Eagle hunter visit (if season aligns with October, otherwise cultural).
Day 13-14: Bayan-Olgii. Petroglyphs. Final nights at a Kazakh family camp. Return to UB.
Two Toyota Land Cruiser 76s. One support UAZ-452 for luggage and supplies. Satellite communications in every vehicle. A doctor in our convoy.
Experienced adventure travellers. People who have done similar, like East African safari, Patagonian trek, or a Silk Road drive. Not your first big expedition. Physical fitness yes. Riding ability we can teach you on day 4 if you arrive without it.
